I've been injured, what do I do?

In the case of an accident, keep an emergency kit available with things like a pen and paper, a notepad or something to write on, a camera to take pictures of the accident, and your insurance information and a card with your medical information in the event you are unable to convey your medical standards.

If you were injured on a roadway? Keep yourself to the side of the road. If you were injured in a store? Move away from the immediate scene of the accident in case you could be reinjured. Whatever you do, stay calm and remember to pay attention to avoid further injury.

If you were injured in a vehicle accident, make sure you exchange information with the party that harmed you. If you were injured in a store, fill out a report and convey the accident to any management or land owner present. Make sure both parties are able to contact the other in the event that you pursue legal action.

Take photos of the scene of the accident, as well as yourself and anybody with you. Make sure you take notes, including the time of the accident, any observations you have, your physical state of well being, and anyone present. If there were other parties present but not a part of the accident? Get their information as well. If you pursue a legal claim, the more information the better.
